Ethel Exclamation Mark

Ethel Exclamation Mark is the tallest and thinnest of the Puncs!  She lives in a village, and on her garden gate there is a notice which says ‘Beware of the dog!’  Elliott, her dog, isn’t really fierce at all but he has a very loud bark!

Ethel’s father, Eddie, is a sign-painter.  Eddie and Em, her mother, live in a cottage near

a river.  They are always rushing down the path to shout, ‘No fishing!’, ‘No swimming!’, ‘No litter!’, or ‘No parking!’

She is very proud of her American ancestor, Great-Great-Great grandfather Egbert.  He was a Philadelphia Punc. He taught them to say: “Hi!”, “Have a nice day!” and “You’re Welcome!”
